You may be exempt from taking the placement test if any of the following conditions have been met:

• You have already taken a placement test at another Connecticut community college.*
• You have already completed freshman-level college requirements in English at another college/university and you intend to take higher level English courses at Tunxis.*
• You have already completed freshman-level college requirements in Math at another college/university and you intend to take higher level Math courses at Tunxis.*
• You scored 450 or higher on SAT English (Critical Reading or Writing) within the last 2 years.
• You scored 500 or higher on SAT Math within the last 2 years.
• You are a senior citizen (age 62 or over) and not enrolled in a degree program at Tunxis.

If you would like to apply for exemption from the placement test, fill out the Application for Exemption from Placement Testing form and submit it to the Academic Support Center for review. The completed form should be submitted after you have applied for admission to Tunxis.
