High School Seniors

We encourage you to work with your guidance counselor during the application process as they like to keep track of where their students intend to continue their education. You may apply online or use our traditional application (see above). Upon graduation and prior to course registration, you are required to provide a copy of your diploma or a completed transcript that shows your graduation date.

Transfer Students

Students applying to Tunxis Community College after having attended another college or university should also apply as outlined above. Additionally, students intending to transfer to TCC should arrange to have an “official copy” of their transcripts sent directly to the Admissions Office at Tunxis from their previous school(s). Transcripts from colleges or universities outside the United States must be submitted in English with an accompanying evaluation to U.S. equivalencies to be considered for transfer purposes. Students wishing to have their credit evaluated for transfer into Tunxis must complete a Transfer Evaluation Form.

Not A High School Graduate? Home Schooled?

If you do not have a high school diploma, you may still attend Tunxis Community College, but only as a part-time, non-degree seeking student. Those who are not high school graduates should apply as outlined above and additionally, must complete placement testing as a part of the application process. Applicants who do not hold a high school diploma or GED are not eligible for federal or state-sponsored financial aid programs. Home-schooled students must schedule an appointment with a representative of the Admissions Office to discuss their intended plan of study. Please call860.255.3562 to schedule an appointment.

Placement Testing

Once an application has been submitted, applicants should contact the Academic Support Center at 860.255.3570 to schedule their ACCU-PLACER Placement Assessment. This assessment is required of all incoming students. Exceptions to this requirement include those students who wish to attend on a part-time basis and who do not plan to take an English or math course, or a course that has a math or English prerequisite. Transfer students may also be exempt from this requirement if they have taken appropriate levels of college math and/or English at their previous institution(s). Transfer students must provide an official transcript if they wish to be exempt from placement testing.
