Tunxis Community College in Farmington will hold a Business Administration Program Open House on November 9 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the 600 Building, Room 6-127. Light refreshments will be served.

The evening will begin with tours of campus and opportunities for questions with business faculty and students. A presentation on the business administration program will follow, with remarks by both a current Tunxis business administration student and graduate, and an overview of the admissions process and financial aid.

On-the-spot acceptances for Spring semester will be granted for those who bring proof of high school completion, immunization records, and a completed application. The application fee will be waived for open house attendees who complete a new student application.

Representing the largest field of study at Tunxis, the business administration program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and stresses business practices, leadership, decision-making and technology. During the final year of study, students apply their knowledge in practicums with the area’s leading employers.

A new accelerated business administration degree program is available for those students who need the convenience of online classes and want to finish their degree in a shorter timeframe. Students can complete a 60-credit associate degree in 22 months on a part-time basis, or the 21-credit certificate in six months. Courses are offered fully online in 3-, 7- and 8-week semesters.

Through guaranteed admissions programs and transfer agreements, Tunxis business students who complete an associate degree can seamlessly transfer their credits to a four-year degree program at the Connecticut State Universities, UConn School of Business regional campuses, Charter Oak State College, and many private colleges.

Business continues to be among the top programs in greatest demand by employers, according to a 2016 job outlook study from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), which lists finance, business, accounting and marketing among the top bachelor’s degrees sought by companies hiring new college graduates.
