Tunxis Community College in Farmington will hold a College Planning Conference on April 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the 600 Building. Lunch will be served, and registration is required to attend.

Area high school students are welcome to tour the campus and learn more about Tunxis degree programs, financial aid and scholarships, transfer opportunities, and how to succeed in college. Faculty and Tunxis students will be available to answer questions.

Visitors will be able to choose from more than a dozen workshops, including “Top 10 Things You Need to Know to Succeed in College,” “Social Media and Creating Your Personal Brand: Career Planning,” “Advanced Manufacturing Careers,” “Show Me the Money: Financial Aid & Scholarships,” “Hidden Treasures: Finding Scholarships,” and “Two-Year to Four-Year Plan—Community College to a University.”

Guest speakers Kevin L. Booker, Jr., educator and founder of Booker Empowerment, LLC, Mark Milewski, Tunxis professor, and Kade Van Linter, Tunxis student, will talk about different aspects of the college journey.

Tunxis Community College is in the process of launching advanced manufacturing technology programs, coming this fall. The college offers over 60 associate degree and certificate programs that prepare students for transfer to bachelor’s degree programs and employment in areas with industry need including business administration, criminal justice, dental hygiene, early childhood education, energy management, engineering science, graphic design, honors computer science/mathematics, and liberal arts and sciences. Many programs offer seamless transfer to the CT State Universities and guaranteed admission to the University of Connecticut. The college also has transfer agreements with private colleges and universities.
