Tunxis Community College in Farmington will hold a Health Care Careers Open House on April 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the 600 Building west entrance hallway.

All are welcome to learn more about Tunxis credit-free certificate health careers programs, meet the instructors, and learn about payment options.

Tunxis Continuing Education & Workforce Development offers career training for professions such as certified nurse aide, registered medical assistant, phlebotomy technician, pharmacy technician, central sterile processing, veterinary assistant, certified medical administrative assistant, and patient care technician.

Information on a new, competitively priced massage therapy program that starts in June will be available, which prepares students for licensure in one of the fastest growing occupations in the health care field.

Many of these programs are approved for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding through the Connecticut Department of Labor. Veterans benefits are also available for some programs.

Almost all Health Care Careers certificates are eligible for college credit through the Connecticut Credit Assessment Program administered by Charter Oak State College. Credits may be used at Charter Oak or transferred to another college by setting up a credit registry.

During the event, participants can also learn about Tunxis credit programs, business & industry training, and continuing education courses such as photography, real estate, and motorcycle education.

Some of the Tunxis Health Care Careers programs start as soon as June and early fall. For more information on the open house and Continuing Education & Workforce Development programs, visit tunxis.edu/healthcareers, or call 860.773.1450. For an online map of campus, visit tunxis.edu/map.
