Tunxis Community College has been recognized as a top-ranked best military-friendly college, receiving the best online award by Intelligent.com for its accelerated online degree and certificate programs. The only public college in Connecticut to receive the honor, Tunxis is listed among 60 other competing public institutions across the nation.

“We are honored to be among the elite group of institutions included in this ranking,” said Dr. Darryl Reome, CEO of Tunxis. “Tunxis continues to be committed to delivering instruction to all students in formats that best support their needs and encourage their academic success, especially the men and women who have served our country.”

The student-focused research guide is based on an assessment of programs at 1,604 accredited colleges and universities which were evaluated based on curriculum quality, graduation rate, reputation, and post-graduate employment.

Intelligent.com analyzed 224 programs on a scale of 0 to 100, with only 60 institutions making it to the final list, and Tunxis ranked at #31. The 2020 rankings are calculated through a scoring system which includes student engagement, potential return on investment, and leading third party evaluations. The methodology uses an algorithm which collects and analyzes multiple rankings into one score to compare each college and university’s degree program. Among military-friendly features at Tunxis are several online degree programs, a Veterans’ OASIS which provides a place for Tunxis student veterans and service members to connect and share their experiences, and a website created for student veterans to help them more easily find information they need to apply to the college.

In addition to online studies, Tunxis offers more than 70 associate degrees and certificates including advanced manufacturing, criminal justice, engineering, and technology, which prepare students for further studies and transition into the workforce. The college’s ACBSP-accredited, accelerated business administration associate degree can be completed in 22 months on a part-time basis, and the certificate can be completed in six months. TCC’s Transfer Ticket associate degrees provide seamless transfer and a low-cost pathway to a bachelor’s degree at the Connecticut State Universities and Charter Oak State College.
