Tunxis Community College Registered Medical Assistant students and faculty volunteered for the second year at the NBC Connecticut/Telemundo Connecticut Blood Drive on June 20, held at Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford, home of the Yard Goats.

TCC students Breanna McConnell and Andrew Jones spent part of the day directing donors at the drive.

Twelve students and two faculty spent the day directing and recruiting donors for the drive, held by the American Red Cross, and donating blood themselves.

The 10-month accredited Registered Medical Assistant program at Tunxis runs every spring and fall, one of several programs offered through Tunxis Continuing Education and Workforce Development to help meet demand in Connecticut for health care workers.

A Health Careers Open House will be held at Tunxis on August 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for those who would like to learn more about Tunxis healthcare career programs, meet the instructors, and learn about payment options and scholarships.
