Tunxis Community College will hold a public forum on Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. in Tunxis Library Room 7-222 to provide a brief overview of a Hazard Mitigation Plan and answer questions.

Students, faculty, staff and members of the public are invited to learn and comment on the Multi-Campus Hazard Mitigation Plan draft, which will highlight some of the hazards that could present the greatest risks to campus operations.

The draft is part of a greater Multi-Campus Hazard Mitigation Plan which includes the Connecticut State College and Universities (CSCU) System Office and all 17 CSCU institutions governed by the Board of Regents for Higher Education that include 12 community colleges, four state universities and Charter Oak State College. The project will assist the campuses in identifying and reducing risks from natural hazards, identify actions that can be taken to prevent loss of life and property damage, and prioritize funding for mitigation efforts. While natural disasters cannot be prevented from occurring, the continued implementation of mitigation strategies identified in the plan will make the CSCU campuses more sustainable and disaster-resilient.
