ALEKS Placement, Preparation and Learning Program at Tunxis

ALEKS PPL is a program you can use to test for placement, prepare for a math course, and learn more math skills. It can help determine the “best fit” mathematics course when you begin at Tunxis.

Registering for the ALEKS Math Placement Test

Your first ALEKS assessment may be taken online from anywhere.

  • To take the initial placement test online, go to aleks.com/sign_up, and enter the Tunxis Class Code: 6APUK-EYP4U.
  • You must register with your Tunxis email address, which ends with @mail.ct.edu.
  • OR
  • To take the placement test on campus, go to tunxis.edu/placement and schedule an appointment.

Taking the ALEKS Math Placement Test

  • The score on this initial assessment will provide a baseline on your current math skills, so it is very important you give your best, honest effort.
  • The use of an external calculator (non-CAS models such as the TI-83+ or TI-84+) is allowed.
  • All other resources such as websites, books, or consulting others etc., are not allowed.

After taking the ALEKS Math Placement Test

When you see your score (number in a circle) you have completed your initial assessment.

  • To register for a math course, contact a Guided Pathways Advisor at tunxis.edu/advising and use the online booking calendar.
  • If you believe you would benefit from retaking the assessment, click on “Improve Your Knowledge in a Prep and Learning Module” to build skills in math. You must spend 3+ hours in the module before you can schedule a retake. All retakes must be taken on campus by scheduling an appointment at tunxis.edu/placement.
