Dr. Darryl Reome has been appointed campus CEO of Tunxis Community College in Farmington by the Board of Regents for Higher Education.

Reome, who has served as interim campus CEO of Tunxis since 2019, will continue in a permanent role as the lead campus administrator where he oversees day-to-day operations of the college.

Reome has over 20 years of experience in higher education, including 15 years within the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) system.

“I look forward to collaborating with the college’s talented and hardworking faculty, staff, and management to continue advancing the student success and equity efforts with which I have been involved over the last two years in my interim role,” said Reome. “Tunxis is well-positioned to create and advance opportunities for community engagement with new and innovative academic programming, and I am excited about increasing our strategic partnerships with legislators, workforce and manufacturing leaders, superintendents and other school officials, so that we can continue to focus on the critical needs of students and employers from within our service region.”

With a background in both student and academic affairs, Reome has held several leadership positions within the CSCU system, most recently as interim dean of student affairs at Tunxis, where he has taught and previously held several administrative positions. Prior to Tunxis, he held positions as associate dean of student affairs and enrollment management at Northwestern Connecticut Community College, director of admissions at Middlesex Community College, and other student-centered positions at four-year colleges and universities.

Dr. Reome’s work at Tunxis has focused on student success initiatives, including an online early alert referral system, the creation and implementation of the Office of Equity and Inclusion, and the creation of a new Admissions Enrollment Center. He has helped increase access to classes in the region through cross-registration and led the college’s efforts with implementing Achieving the Dream, a national initiative to help more community college students have access to a high quality education in an equitable and inclusive teaching and learning environment.

Reome is also a recent recipient of the prestigious PTK Paragon Award for New Presidents. His work with Tunxis student groups, including student veterans and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honors students, resulted in the creation of the college’s student ambassador program. He has also served on a number of Connecticut State Colleges & Universities committees and councils.

A Connecticut native and first-generation college student, Reome holds a bachelor’s degree from Sacred Heart University, a master’s degree from Central Connecticut State University, and doctorate in educational leadership and higher education administration from Johnson & Wales University. His dissertation examined factors that support college degree attainment for first-generation community college students.
